Cognitive behavioral therapy for anxiety disorders in children and adolescents

Anxiety disorders are the most frequently diagnosed class of disorders in children and adolescents.  Most children who develop an anxiety disorder do so by late adolescence or early adulthood. While some fears and anxiety can be adaptive and developmentally appropriate, clinical levels of fear and anxiety can engender significant distress in children and their families and are likely to interfere with academic and social functioning.

CBT has been shown to be an effective treatment for children and adolescents with anxiety. This type of therapy is more powerful and cost-effective tools aims to change the beliefs and behaviors at the root of the anxiety, helping to ease symptoms

CBT has two components—the cognitive part, which helps a child and adolescent change how he or she views a situation, and the behavioral part, which helps a child and adolescent learn how to react differently to it. The goal is to teach a variety of coping skills to help them manage difficult situations.

  3. those living with these issues can improve with better coping mechanisms and management to help relieve their symptoms

2- introduction to use CBT through play therapy and therapeutic story telling (3 hours):

  • instruction for using play and story in child and adolescent psychotherapy
  • how to combined CBT and play and story in childhood anxiety treatment

3- behavioral techniques for childhood and adolescence anxiety in practical way (12 hours):

  • Recognition of emotions and introducing anxiety to child and adolescent
  • What are the behavioral techniques for anxiety disorders in children and adolescents
  • practical exercises in the class

4- cognitive techniques for children and adolescent anxiety in practical way (12 hours):

  • The relationship between what we think, what we feel and what we act
  • Catching automatic negative thoughts and identifying cognitive distortions
  • Cognitive restructuring techniques
  • Doing practical exercises in the class
