Berberyan Asya Surenovna

Berberyan Asya Surenovna was born in Rustavi,  Georgian SSR. She graduated from Yerevan State University (Armenia) with honors (1983). During her study at university,she demonstrated a high social and research activity: was a prizewinner and a laureate of the All-Russian Olympiads and competitions in philosophy and pedagogy. In 1986 graduated from the Graduate School in General Psychology at the Yerevan State University. She defended her dissertation (got her PhD)in 19.00.01 “Theory and History of Psychology” at Uznadze Institute of Psychology (Tbilisi, Georgia). From 1986 to 1992was a lecturer at the Department of Psychology at Yerevan State University. From 1992 to 1998 worked as a psychologist-educator in City PsychologicalService (Rostov-on-Don, Russian Federation) and in a meantime, she worked asa lecturerin the Teacher Training Institute (Rostov-on-Don, Russian Federation). From 1998 to 2002 worked in a position of Associate Professor in the Department of Social Sciences at the Russian – Armenian (Slavonic) University (Yerevan, Republic of Armenia), from 2002 to 2005- head of the Department of Ethno-cultural and ethnological tourismat the Russian-Armenian (Slavonic) University (Yerevan, Republic of Armenia). In 2005 passed the competition for the position of head of the PsychologyDepartment and acting dean of Facultyof Psychology at the Russian-Armenian (Slavonic) University (Yerevan, Republic of Armenia). In 2010, she defended her doctoral dissertation on the topic: “The existential-humanistic concepts of personality-developing training in the higher educational system ofArmenian (history, methodology and technologies ofimplementation). Code of specialty is 19.00.01 “Theory and history of psychology.” In 2015 she was awarded the academic title of professor.

From 2005 to present – Head of the Psychology Departmentat the Russian-Armenian (Slavonic) University, Head of “Psychology” direction of the Institute for Human Sciences (Yerevan, Republic of Armenia).

Nowadays she is a member of the editorial board of “Journal of RAU”, International editorial board of the scientific and methodical journal “Sociosphera”, member of the Organizational committee of international conferences in psychology and pedagogy held by Center of Russian scientific cooperation development, scientific journal “Vectorof  science” TSU RF.

  1. Berberyan is the head of the Armenian Regional Department of All-Russianprofessional psychotherapeutic league, the head of the Armenian branch of the International Academy of Psychological Sciences, a member of the International Council of Professional Therapists, foreign expert of the Russian Humanitarian Foundation. A. Berberyan repeatedly worthily represented science in international workshops, conferences and congresses, has organized the annual international and republican scientific conferences for teaching staff and students. She is the author of 180 scientific papers, has certificates of practically orientated courses. A. Berberyan is the head of the RA and RF joint grant projects on the problems of humanization of higher education and ethno-cultural identity of Armenians and Russians in the title ethnos and diaspora. Also is a full member of the International Academy of Psychological Sciences. In 2005 A. Berberyan prepared a package of materials to obtain a license for opening Psychology specialization, in 2009 – a package of materials for opening the directionsof the Master, and later –Graduate Schoolin general psychology, history and theory of psychology, psychology of personality – all levels are successfully functioning nowadays.

For many years of fruitful work on the development and improvement of the educational process, a significant contribution to the training of highly qualified specialists was awarded the diploma by the Ministry of Education and Science of the Russian Federation (2016), for her services to the professional community was awarded a diploma of the laureate (2016). For the introduction of person-centered approach in the educational process in the RAU was awarded the title “Best teacher of the year”, for fruitful activity in the education system and services in the practical training of specialists with higher education, strengthening of Russian and Armenian scientific relations was awarded by representative of Federal Agency “Rossotrudnichestvo”in Armenia.

She presented an original science-based and expimentallyproved conceptual system, stimulating the development of personality and self-development through the organization of person-centered learning in higher education.
